The instrument has a fascinating history, evolving from early 20th-century Carnival percussion groups known as tamboo bamboo.
Over time the Steelpan has been refined and has evolved into a chromatically pitched instrument used in orchestras as well as in solo performances.
This remarkable instrument, with its vibrant sound and unique history, is a true symbol of Trinidadian culture.
